All: 8 places
Hanil Sikdang
한일식당A long-running Iksan restaurant known for Hwangdeung-style yukhoe bibimbap
- GOOD FOR
- A signature local meal before returning to the station
- WATCH
- It is not beside Mireuksaji. Check travel time, solo ordering and sellout.
Jinmi Sikdang
진미식당An old-school Hwangdeung stop for yukhoe bibimbap and soup
- GOOD FOR
- When the taxi or rail route can reasonably include Hwangdeung
- WATCH
- This is not near the heritage site. Calculate opening, break time and transport cost separately.
Mireuksan Sundubu
미륵산순두부A practical tofu-and-stew meal in the Mireuksaji area
- GOOD FOR
- A warm nearby lunch before or after the museum
- WATCH
- Verify same-day opening and one-person ordering by map or phone.
Café Mireuksan
카페 미륵산A suburban bakery café with Mireuksan views
- GOOD FOR
- A longer seated rest after the heritage site
- WATCH
- Protect museum admission and the return bus first; verify the actual walking distance.
Gosrak Café
고스락 카페A countryside café combined with an earthenware-jar garden and fermented-food space
- GOOD FOR
- An overnight stay or a wider taxi itinerary
- WATCH
- It is outside the core Mireuksaji route. Do not stack it with Wanggun-ri and downtown on a day trip.
Iksan Station Culture and Arts Street
익산역 문화예술의거리A station-area street of modern heritage, small galleries and workshops
- GOOD FOR
- A spare 30–60 minutes before the train or local crafts

- Individual venues keep different hours. Do not expect a continuously open shopping mall.
WHAT TRAVELERS ASK
Questions people ask before a Mireuksaji trip.
Can I walk from Iksan Station to Mireuksaji?+
No. Use a city bus or taxi and save the exact practical return departure on arrival.
Can I see Mireuksaji and Wanggung-ri in one day?+
Yes only when transport aligns. Compare a taxi or choose one area if bus waiting threatens museum hours.
Can I reserve or join the queue through CATCHTABLE or TABLING?+
A listing is not proof that reservations or remote waiting are active. Search the exact Korean name and use the feature only when its button is live that day. TABLING may require an on-site confirmation code. International visitors should try CATCHTABLE Global first, then use an overseas-user QR or ask staff.
Is solo dining difficult?+
Soup, noodles, bibimbap and market snacks with individual portions are easiest. Grills and set menus may start at two portions, so confirm the minimum before sitting and save two nearby one-person alternatives.
Museum or outdoor ruins first?+
Protect museum admission first, then fit the outdoor site to the weather. The exhibition makes the ruins easier to understand.
What can I do near Iksan Station before the train?+
Use one open area such as the arts street or market. If Mireuksaji runs late, protect platform time instead.
Is it worth visiting in rain?+
Yes, with more museum time. Shorten exposed ruins and bus waiting, and watch slippery surfaces.
How much time before the return KTX?+
Leave Mireuksaji at least 90 minutes before the KTX to cover bus and road uncertainty.

FIELD GUIDE · CHECKED 2026-07-27
A usable day plan,
not a list of places.
The KTX ride is short; the Iksan Station–Mireuksaji connection is not. Protect the return by treating the temple site and national museum as one remote cluster, checking the city-bus interval on arrival and keeping a taxi threshold.
- KTX
- About 1 hr 10 min from Yongsan
- LOCAL LINK
- Bus about 40–60 min, traffic dependent
- WALKING
- About 3–5 km · mostly flat
- CORE PAIR
- Mireuksaji + Iksan National Museum
- RETURN RULE
- Leave the site KTX −90 min
- DROP FIRST
- Central Market or another city stop
SAMPLE SCHEDULE
Build the day around the light.
Use these as decision points, then replace the example times with the sunset and transport times for your date.
- 01
Arrive at Iksan Station
Confirm the return KTX, the Mireuksaji bus and a taxi comparison.
- 02
Walk the outdoor temple site
Use the cooler, drier part of the day for the exposed archaeological area.
- 03
Enter Iksan National Museum
Use the indoor exhibition for context, lunch timing and weather relief.
- 04
Leave Mireuksaji
If the bus interval no longer protects the train, use the saved taxi fallback.
01 · CONNECTION
The station and heritage site are separate zones
Mireuksaji is not walkable from Iksan Station. Check the city-bus connection in both directions before committing to another city stop.
Choose a taxi threshold: if waiting removes the 90-minute return buffer, switch instead of gambling on the train.
02 · OUTDOOR SITE
See the ruins before the indoor museum
The temple site is broad and exposed. Walk the pagoda and main archaeological axis before midday heat or deteriorating weather.
Shade can be limited. Carry water, use sun protection and reduce the outdoor circuit in heavy rain or extreme heat.
03 · MUSEUM
Use the museum for context and recovery
The national museum explains the Baekje site and provides an indoor rest point. Check the current closing and holiday schedule.
Do not leave the museum so late that the next bus determines whether you catch KTX. The return journey begins at the museum exit.
04 · SCOPE
Do not add central Iksan by default
Mireuksaji and the museum are a complete destination cluster. Adding the market or another city attraction creates a second long local connection.
Add downtown only when the bus returns early and the KTX buffer remains intact. Otherwise eat near the station.
SAVE BEFORE DEPARTURE
Eight checks that keep the route intact.
- Reserve both KTX directions
- Check the bus in both directions
- Save a taxi estimate
- Carry water and sun protection
- Check museum closure
- Leave the site 90 minutes before KTX
OPEN BEFORE YOU GO
Three official checks.
